| Quote: | J.J. Putz told CSNChicago.com that he never underwent a physical with the Mets.
"I had the bone spur (in the right elbow). It was discovered the previous year in Seattle, and it never got checked out by any other doctors until I got to spring training, and the spring training physical is kind of a formality," said Putz. "It was bugging me all through April, and in May I got an injection. It just got to the point where I couldn’t pitch. I couldn’t throw strikes, my velocity was way down." Putz says the Mets told him to not talk about being hurt with the media. He eventually underwent surgery to remove the bone spur last June and never threw another pitch with the Mets. With a clean bill of health, the 32-year-old right-hander signed a one-year, $3 million with the White Sox in December. |
Wow, I missed this when it was posted the other day. How the hell do you not give a relief pitcher you're acquiring a physical? New York Mess indeed. _________________ Season 4 Sparky Anderson Wild Card
